About the Asphalt Academy

Promoting an Informed Bituminous Products Industry

The Asphalt Academy Trust was established by Sabita on a non-profit basis in 2001 in a joint venture with CSIR Transportek. The continued and steady growth is indicative of the need for quality courses and seminars in the road sector. As employees are always seen as the most important resource, the bituminous product industry continues to provide employment to thousands of people in various activities and operations throughout SA.

The provision of employment and the human development within the industry through in-house training, professional development, bursary provision, tertiary and secondary educational level support makes for sound growth and sustainability of communities. Through a renewed partnership with South African Road Federation (SARF) in 2009, the Asphalt Academy continues to provide training that satisfies industry needs.
